On July 7, 2022, the Manitoba government announced that it amended regulations under the Construction Industry Wages Act to increase the minimum wage for construction workers in the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors and the heavy construction sector. The increase is intended to catch up with inflation since the last increase, which was in 2017, and keep pace with expected inflation up to 2024.
The first wage increase under the regulation will come into effect on September 1, followed by additional increases on April 1, 2023, and April 1, 2024.
The minimum wage depends on the employee's job classification(e.g., a 'carpenter's minimum wage will increase from $31.60 to $33.18).
