NU / NWT New statutory holiday – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On June 3, 2022, the Government of the Northwest Territories received royal assent to Bill 47, An Act to amend the Employment Standards Act. The act includes a new statutory holiday that will fall on September 30th each year, known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

 

On June 13, 2022, the Government of Nunavut received royal assent for legislation to include a new public holiday known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The holiday will be recognized each September 30th beginning in 2022.
