Ontario Exploring Increase to Compensation for Injured Workers

The Ontario government is directing the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) to explore an increase in compensation for workers who become injured or ill on the job. The government and the Board are exploring raising the compensation to 90 percent up from 85 percent.

This change may impact employers who pay top-up and salary continuance. An increase in the compensation would decrease the top-up payment and higher benefit reimbursement to the employer when the employee receives a salary continuance.
