On June 1st, 2026, Bill 11, The Employment Standards Code Amendment Act (Sick Notes for Employee Absences), received Royal Assent. This will limit when an employer may require a sick note from an employee who is absent from work due to injury or illness.

This Act comes into force 180 days after the day it receives royal assent.
