On March 17, 2026, New Brunswick tabled the province’s 2026 Budget, proposing the following payroll-related changes.
- The province will introduce pay transparency legislation for large employers, including government and will invest $250,000 to support the implementation of the legislation. This initiative is a key step toward the government's commitment to phase in pay equity in the private sector.
- To address staffing shortages in the adult residential facilities and home support, the government will invest $9.3 million to increase the wages of personal support workers.
These changes are subject to legislative approval. The Institute will monitor and let our members know when these changes have passed legislation.
