On March 13, 2023, the Federal Government introduced a measure to help Quebec retain skilled workers pursuing permanent residence. Eligible workers invited by Quebec to submit a Demande de sélection permanente (DSP) can obtain an employer-specific work permit through the International Mobility Program, allowing them to continue working for their current employer for up to 12 months. This provides time for Quebec to assess their eligibility for a Quebec Selection Certificate before they apply for permanent residence.
Employers are encouraged to:
- Confirm eligibility with employees who have received a DSP invitation from Québec; and
- Support work permit applications by providing the required employer documentation.
