On January 14, 2026, Revenu Québec announced a temporary measure extending the filing deadline for Québec RL slips and summaries. Because the original deadline of Saturday, February 28, 2026, falls on a weekend, the filing deadline has been extended to Monday, March 2, 2026. Extending the deadline when due on a weekend has been a long-standing recommendation from the National Payroll Institute.
This extension applies to all employers and payers required to file Québec RL information returns, providing additional time to complete year-end reporting obligations without incurring penalties.
Employers and payers should:
- Ensure all Québec RL slips and summaries are accurately prepared, validated, and submitted to Revenu Québec no later than March 2, 2026;
- Confirm payroll and reporting systems (including third-party service providers) are aligned with the updated deadline;
- Avoid last-minute submissions to reduce the risk of technical issues, rejected filings, or compliance errors; and
- Communicate the updated deadline internally to payroll, finance, and compliance teams, as well as to employees, to ensure timely coordination and understanding.
