On December 9, 2025, the Canada Revenue Agency released the 2026 TD1 forms for all provinces and territories. These forms determine the amount of tax to be deducted from employees’ income, and the updated versions must be used for all new hires and for any employee wishing to adjust their personal tax credits.
Employers should:
- Download the new federal and provincial/territorial TD1 forms from the CRA’s website;
- Distribute the form to all new employees hired on or after the release date;
- Notify current employees that they must complete a new TD1 only if their personal tax situation has changed;
- Ensure payroll software is updated to reflect any new calculations or thresholds; and
- Document and securely store completed forms as required by the CRA regulations.
