On November 28, 2025, the CRA updated its T619, Electronic Transmittal requirements.
The changes are as follows.
- The language code field is now required. This ensures consistent data quality and prevents submission errors caused by missing or incorrectly interpreted language information.
- The acceptable character tables have been refined to provide clearer guidance on which characters are permitted. This helps users validate their data upfront, reducing the likelihood of formatting-related rejections.
- Additional information has been added regarding acceptable characters for the submission reference identification field:
- Spaces, hyphens, and special characters are not permitted.
Self-filers should do the following.
- Remove all optional XML fields that have no values.
Empty optional fields can trigger validation errors and lead to system rejections. - Verify their XML file before submission to ensure no unused optional elements remain in the file.
Taking these steps will help filers prevent avoidable rejections and ensure smoother, faster processing of their filings.
