The Government will extend the following two temporary EI measures until April 11, 2026:
- Suspension of separation payment rules: Workers can retain their severance payments while receiving EI benefits, ensuring they can access immediate income support without delay; and
- Waiver of the one-week waiting period: Workers will begin receiving EI benefits during their first week of unemployment, providing faster financial assistance.
