Employment Insurance Premium Reduction Web Portal

Following recommendations by the National Payroll Institute to streamline and simplify the process for employers applying for an Employment Insurance (EI) Premium Reduction, Service Canada has introduced a bilingual (English and French) online portal. Employers can conveniently submit their EI premium reduction application forms and all required supporting documentation through this secure Web Portal, helping reduce administrative burden and accelerate the overall application and review process.

Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits for Long-Tenured Workers Extended

Long-tenured workers often require additional time to secure employment comparable to the jobs they have lost. To support them, starting October 12, 2025, with retroactive eligibility for claims beginning on or after June 15, 2025, the Government will provide an additional 20 weeks of Employment Insurance income support, for a maximum of 65 weeks of benefits. In addition, workers who lose their jobs due to tariffs will have access to training and career counselling services through the Labour Market Development Agreements (LMDAs)
