On April 10, 2025, PEI's Finance Minister Jill Burridge tabled the province's fiscal 2025-2026 budget.
Here are some of the highlights from PEI’s budget that impact payroll:
-
Immediately increase the Basic Personal Amount (BPA) to $14,650 for 2025 (from $14,250). Then, in January 2026, raise the BPA to $15,000 and adjust all five tax brackets upward by 1.8%.
-
Increase the minimum wage from $16 to $17 per hour.
The National Payroll Institute will monitor the progress and implementation of these changes and will keep its members informed.
