New Pay Transparency Reporting Tool

On June 6, 2024, the British Columbia government launched an online reporting tool to assist employers in preparing pay transparency reports. These reports are mandated by the Pay Transparency Act, enacted into law on May 11, 2023.

Employers are required to have a Business BCeID to access the tool.

To facilitate compliance, the reporting requirement will be phased in gradually, allowing employers adequate preparation time. By specific deadlines, different categories of employers must compile and publish reports detailing their gender-pay differentials:

  • November 1, 2024: Employers with 1,000 employees or more

  • November 1, 2025: Employers with 300 employees or more

  • November 1, 2026: Employers with 50 employees or more

The newly introduced pay transparency reporting tool enables employers to input anonymized data regarding employees' gender and remuneration, subsequently generating automated reports.
