New Measure to Support Skilled Temporary Workers in Manitoba

On May 8, 2024, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) approved Manitoba’s request to extend temporary resident status for potential nominees identified under the province’s Provincial Nominee Program with work permits that will expire in 2024. These individuals are mainly post-graduation work permit holders in the Manitoba Skilled Worker Provincial Nominee Program Expression of Interest pool.

Employers who hire skilled temporary workers must:

  • Carefully consider this measure as part of their recruitment and employment strategy.

  • Assess the measure's potential administrative and financial implications to maintain compliance and efficiency in managing their temporary workforce.
