Effective January 1, 2024, the Act to modernize the Occupational Health and Safety Regime brings changes to construction sites.
Employers, project managers, and workers have new obligations for training and certification regarding prevention and participation mechanisms required on construction sites starting January 1, 2024.
Mandatory training must last:
- One hour for the member of a site committee
- Three hours for the worker designated as a part-time health and safety representative
- Forty hours for the worker designated as a full-time health and safety representative
- Two hundred and forty hours for the worker designated as a health and safety coordinator.
