Employer Obligations on Election Day - June 26, 2023

Under the Ontario’s Municipal Elections Act, 1996:

Employees are entitled to have at least three consecutive hours during voting hours between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm on election day (the by-election for Toronto Mayor will be held on June 26)

Where an employee’s work hours do not allow for three consecutive hours off during voting hours, their employer must provide sufficient time off with pay to meet the requirement of three consecutive hours.
