BC National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (New Public Holiday)

On February 7, 2023, the British Columbia government tabled Bill 2 – 2023: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Act, which, if adopted, would make the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation a statutory holiday, provincially, starting September 30, 2023.

If Bill 2 is adopted, all employers would need to add this new paid holiday to their statutory holiday policy and pay eligible employees accordingly.

The National Payroll Institute will monitor the progress of Bill 2-2023 and advise members of any changes.
